Winter Dales walks can be found here. Welcome to the Giles website! Do you like walking in the Yorkshire Dales? Then look no further! This web site is to advertise my Yorkshire Dales 'Pub in the Middle' Circular Walks book. The main motivation for writing this book was to design walks that have a good food and fine ale pub in the middle. The objective is to have the majority of the difficult walking done prior to lunch to work up a good appetite. The post-lunch walk is usually a gentle ramble back to the car.
Winter dales walking is recommended as it is quieter and once moving, you dont feel the cold. It is, however, important to take notice of the walking times, as it becomes darker earlier. In winter, the pub in the middle is a welcome refuge, especially in bad weather. I have included web links for the pubs and local places of interest, so that the area can be researched prior to your visit. book 2 is finally complete and contains 12 more outstanding Further Yorkshire Dales Walks with a 'pub in the middle' in laser printed colour featuring Buckden Pike, Pen-y-ghent and the highest pub in England.
